I agree that the keep was looking away from the payer who was hit with the ball. If you look at the attacker, he stops his "job" before he left the 18. gotta leave that 18.... not stop just before crossing. the defender knew he was close to the keeper for his eyes were locked right on him.

What says the LOTG in this case? "Player celebrates goal before the goal by removing his shirt..." (see attachement) As I know, a player must be cautioned for removing the shirt or covering the head with the shirt - but it is valid only if it is a goal celebration. Ok, let we say, it was a...

So I have a question on offsides that I would like to get some input on - it may have been asked before but I was unable to find it through searching. Here's the situation: * Ball being dribbled down by player Red 1 towards Blue goal, Red 1 is still outside the 18 * Last Blue defender (aside from GK)...

Wow..Ok, thanks for the response all. I may wholly disagree with how the rule is now being interpreted, but if that's what it is...that's what it is. Now I just need to inform my GKs and then also remember not to yell at the ref when they don't make that call again. ;)

I'm going with SFP. Doesn't quite rise to VC and although there is only the keeper left to defend, I don't think distance calls for DOGSO. It's shower time either way.

I'm with Reid and David on this one. Player uses the leg farthest from the defender, he never moves toward defender but the other way around and utilizes minimum force.

I have a question for people. This has come up several times over the last few weeks on referee forums and in other contexts, and I would like to get clarification as to these terms. Surprisingly, the LOTG is rather "quiet" in defining what is meant by "Foul" vs. "Misconduct"--in the 2016 there is...

The 10+8 that Brad refers to are "penal" and "technical" fouls, but that may have been removed from the Laws years ago? I think it's generally accepted that they're all fouls. Misconduct is anything that requires the referee's intervention which isn't a foul, plus as Kevin suggests disciplinary...

At a tournament this past weekend, I was the AR and a player was taking a throw-in from at least 5 yds off the field. I signalled for a foul throw, but the referee waved me off. After the game he told me he waved it off because (as he put it) a player can take a throw from anywhere outside the touch...

It is written in the LOTG, from the point where it left the FOP is just that - the point, not the general vicinity. How much we allow or consider trifling what we allow, but by the letter of the LOTG it should be exactly where it left the FOP, not 1 yard, 5 yards or any yards in any direction.

Alright refs, help me out with this one please, I'm second-guessing my decision last night. Off the corner kick an attacker in the area had a good opportunity for a header, the ball was at head-height. Defender swings a boot at it, narrowly missing the attacker's face who managed to recoil and...

Currently the LOTG state that there is no offside on corner kicks, however, like many of the rules in our game, it has been around quite awhile and new rules, style of play, or lines on the pitch may have rendered this rule obsolete (see the new kickoff rules for example). Now I would imagine the no...

In any restart that results from a ball going out of play (throw-in, goal kick, corner kick), offside is nullified. If we change the law for corner kicks, the laws would become inconsistent.

I agree completely with David. Charge on the keeper by the attacker. Let it play as it has no effect and would penalize the defending team. GK is irritated and swings his arm back with a "get off me" type swat. His is looking up field. It is also retaliatory. Has to be a YK for the UB...

Absolutely correct in issuing the caution. 1) He must have been a long way from the spot not to realize on his own this was a cautionable offence. 2) Point 1 being said, good communication with the AR making sure that the CR would receive the information needed 3) CR seriously needs to learn...

If there is contact, then a yellow cannot be issued immediately. That is at the discretion of the referee whether it was embellishment enough for a yellow. If there is no contact and he dives, automatic yellow. That is in the laws of the game, not the exact quote, but it is to the same effect.

Something you all have missed is the AR's signal. Watch him, he displays of the flag at his waist and the referee never notices it. He should have raised it after the referee failed to notice it.
